KiDazzles Learning Center

KiDazzles is pleased to introduce our Academic Tutoring program. Initially we will be offering assistance with reading skills. Over time we will be adding math tutoring and SOL preparation.

Reading

Our reading program is being led by Mary Petersen, a special education teacher who focuses on improving reading skills.

Mary will be offering individual instruction in the following areas:

     Phonological Awareness
      Decoding
      Fluency
      Comprehension

Each child will start with either a Consultation or Evaluation based on need. During the initial session Mary will gather the information necessary to tailor a program based on their individual needs.

A Consultation will be held when the weakness being targeted is easily identified or an evaluation has already been performed. During the consultation Mary will gather the information needed to document the current baseline of performance and develop a detailed plan for each child.

An Evaluation will be performed when more in depth testing or assessment is required. Norm referenced testing will be performed to determine the current level of ability in key reading skills. During the evaluation will gather the information needed to document the current baseline of performance and develop a detailed plan for each child.

After the initial meeting additional sessions will be scheduled to target the areas of need.
