We are located at 44025 Pipeline Plaza Suite 105 in Ashburn, Virginia.  

CSTC has been committed to serving children and their families for over 20 years, and has a staff of talented and exceptional speech-language pathologists and support professionals that are dedicated to helping children.

The speech-language pathologists at Children's Speech Therapy Center are all State Licensed and have the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Each therapist has at least a Master's Degree and post-graduate training.

Children's Speech Therapy Center's staff of ASHA certified therapists have extensive training and experience working with children. They all complete yearly continuing education classes including; PROMPT, ABLC, HANEN, HWT and other topics specific to child development.

Kristen Dorsey Jones M.A., CCC-SLP, SLT, Co-Director 

Kristen is a certified member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice speech therapy in the state of Virginia.  She received her graduate degree from George Washington University in Speech and Hearing Sciences and her Bachelor of Arts from Lafayette College.  She has been a clinician at CSTC for over 5 years.  Kristen enjoys working with children of all ages and has experience working with children who have apraxia of speech, fluency disorders, speech sound disorders, autism spectrum disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, learning disabilities, auditory processing difficulties, and reading disabilities.  Kristen is PROMPT trained, and has continuing education in Social Thinking, Lively Letters (a phonological awareness program), and the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol. She recently received the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) from ASHA in recognition of her commitment for lifelong learning. Kristen is also a Certified Language Teacher through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys watching movies, working out, and fixing up her house with her husband.  

 

 

Alicia McFadden, M.A., CCC-SLP, Co-Director

Alicia is a certified member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice therapy in the state of Virginia.  She received her graduate degree from George Washington University in Speech and Hearing Sciences.  Alicia began her career as a clinician working in a non-public school specifically designed for children with Autism in Los Angeles, California.  There, she worked with children and adults utilizing augmentative communication devices, implementing a social thinking curriculum, and addressing receptive and expressive language skills. She also has experience working with adults in the rehabilitative setting. Alicia enjoys working with children of all ages and adults.  Her special interests are in the area of language and pragmatics.  Alicia is trained in the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and has continuing education in Social Thinking, phonological disorders, augmentative communication, and expressive and receptive language disorders. She has completed the Social Thinking Clinical Training Program.  

  

 

Susan Morgan, M.S., CCC-SLP 

Susan is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed to practice speech therapy in the state of Virginia. She has experience working with children in outpatient pediatric clinics, Early Intervention, public and private day school settings. She received her Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of North Carolina Wilmington.  She specializes in augmentative and assistive communication and enjoys working with a variety of diagnoses including autism spectrum disorders, Downs Syndrome, and genetic disorders. She has continuing education and experience in feeding disorders, fluency, play based therapy and sensory integration.

When not at work, Susan can be easily spotted jogging along the sidewalks of Ashburn with her certified therapy dog, Muki. She is an avid runner and Pinterest addict.

 

 

  

Ioana Barbu, M.A., CCC-SLP

Ioana is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Virginia.  She began her career as an intern with CSTC Therapies before joining the team full time following her graduation from George Washington University with a Master's of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.  Go Bruins!

Ioana enjoys working with adults and children of all ages and offers bilingual services (she is a native speaker of Romanian). She has research experience in cochlear implants and has been working with a wide range of communication disorders - articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorders, language delays and disorders, adult swallowing and AAC.  She is an LSVT (Lee-Silverman Voice Treatment) certified therapist, with an interest in voice disorders.  

In her free time, Ioana enjoys reading, traveling to new cities near and far, and trying out delicious recipes.  

 

 

Carol Clendenin, M.S., CCC-SLP 

Carol Clendenin is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice speech therapy in the state of Virginia. Carol's clinical interests in recent years have focused on youngsters and adolescents with expressive and receptive langauge delays/disorders, social-pragmatic difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, auditory processing challenges, and articulation/phonological disorders.  Earlier in her career, she worked in the Communication Disorders Institute, St. Anthony Hospital, Columbus Ohio, where she provided evaluation and treatment of children and adults exhibiting fluency, voice, articulation, and language disorders.  She also worked at the Columbus School for Girls and Head Start.  

In her free time, Carol and her husband enjoy spending time with their three-now young adult-children and daughter-in-law, hosting gatherings of family and friends, outdoor activities, as well as, working on their 200 year old home!    

 

  

Valarie Dargan, Practice Manager

Valarie has over 12 years of Healthcare management experience that includes serving as Practice Administrator for a cardiovascular organization with multiple offices, Practice Manager for a holistic physician's office that treated autistic children and Front Desk Manager for a MRI center.  Valarie possesses extensive administrative experience combined with excellent interpersonal skills and organizational ability.  Her experience includes Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, and Credentialing.  Valarie is a proud graduate of Townson University in Maryland.  

In her free time, she enjoys spending time traveling with her husband.  Valarie is an avid reader and enjoys cooking big Sunday meals for her 2 adult children.  Valarie is a Baltimore Ravens fan!
