Evaluations are used in order to assess some or all of the following:
- Receptive language - what a child understands
- Expressive language - what a child communicates
- Social language (i.e., pragmatics)
- Vocabulary
- Oral motor skills and/or feeding
- Speech articulation
- Fluency
- Auditory processing
- Phonological awareness
- Voice
Level I Evaluation
A Level 1 Evaluation is usually scheduled for the evaluation of voice, fluency, or speech sound development. During the evaluation the child will have a hearing screening, an articulation test, and an oral mechanism evaluation. A general language sample is also collected to determine your child's language abilities. This evaluation is scheduled for 90 minutes.
Level 2 Evaluation
A Level 2 Evaluation consists of more in depth testing of the areas covered by the Level 1 Evaluation. The Level 2 Evaluation is normally scheduled when there are language, auditory processing, or reading concerns. This evaluation requires two 90 minute sessions. |
